With a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences from Georgia State University in Atlanta, and a Master of Science in Finance from EM Lyon, Hawa AW began her reinsurance career at AVENI-RE in August 2014 as a Life Underwriter. Three years of remarkable results later, she was promoted to Head of the Life and Surety Department. Building on this success, she rose through the ranks to become Head of Marketing and Development, before being appointed Deputy Managing Director of AVENI-RE on 1 January 2025.

In this role, she works closely with the Chairman and CEO to ensure the company's financial strength, profitability and strategic influence. In particular, she has overseen the commercial expansion of AVENI-RE, the leading privately-owned reinsurance company in the CIMA zone, through the opening of regional offices in Senegal and Cameroon, and soon in East and Southern Africa.

Thanks to a bold commercial strategy, supported by a dynamic team that it has built up itself, AVENI-RE has recorded exceptional sales growth between 2022 and 2024.

With almost ten years' experience in the sector, Hawa AW has established itself as a key figure in reinsurance in Africa, and a respected leader in a demanding and competitive market.

Keen to continually enhance her skills, in 2020 she joined the prestigious PMD Programme (Program for Management Development) at MDE Business School Abidjan, in partnership with IESE Business School - University of Navarra. In 2023, she graduated with distinction with an Executive MBA in Finance from IFG Executive Education Paris, as well as a Master's degree in Law, Economics and Management from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
