Dr Grace Muradzikwa

Commissioner of Insurance, Pension and Commission (Zimbabwe)

Dr Grace Muradzikwa is a distinguished insurance executive with over 40 years of experience in the insurance sector.

She was part of the co-founding team that established the Zimbabwe Reinsurance Corporation in 1984, supported by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). She later made history as the first Black woman to lead and list a publicly traded company, serving as CEO of NicozDiamond until her departure in February 2019.

In June 2019, she was appointed Commissioner of Insurance, Pension, and Provident Funds, overseeing the regulation and supervision of Zimbabwe’s insurance and pensions industry—a role she currently holds.

Dr Muradzikwa has received numerous accolades, including the CEO Global Regional Titans Award (2017) and recognition as one of the Top 50 Women in Insurance in Africa (2022) at the AIO Conference in Kenya.

She has served on several boards of local, regional, and international institutions.

She currently serves as Executive Committee Member of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), representing Sub-Saharan Africa, and Vice Chairperson of the Governance Council of the Committee of Insurance, Securities, and Non-Banking Financial Authorities (CISNA) in SADC. She is also a Board Member at ZEP-RE.

Dr Muradzikwa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and an Honorary PhD in Leadership.
